Insomnia or Sleeplessness
Do you often struggle with falling asleep or find yourself waking up a lot at night? And does this lead to fatigue, irritability, headaches or concentration problems during the day? If this applies to you, you may have insomnia. In the Netherlands, 7% of people suffer from insomnia.
What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is a sleep disorder that involves poor sleep combined with impaired functioning during the day. If you sleep anywhere between 5 and 10 hours a night, you’re getting a normal amount of sleep. On average, it takes people abut 15 minutes to fall asleep and most of us tend to wake up two or three times a night. There are three types of sleeplessness: difficulty falling asleep, waking up often and/or waking up early. These different types can also coincide with one another.
