Pre-Polygraphy (pre-test)
After your GP has referred you to Haaglanden Clinics, we will call you to schedule an appointment. During this appointment, the OSAS consultant will explain the Pre-Polygraphy sleep study. We will also email you the Holland Sleep Disorder Questionnaire beforehand, which you are asked to fill in and bring with you to your appointment. With this sleep study, we can test for sleep apnea and other sleep disorders.
How does the test work?
The test can take place in the comfort of your own home. All you have to do is wear a wristband and pulse oximeter on your finger overnight. This device will measure your heart rate and blood oxygen level. You will be given instructions on what to do for this test at the clinic. You will be invited for a morning consultation, during which the OSAS consultant will explain the test. This appointment will take about 30 minutes. That same evening, you will need to put on the wristband and finger sensor before going to bed. Please return the equipment to the reception desk of Haaglanden Clinics between 08:00 and 09:00 the following morning. If you cannot do so yourself, you can have someone else return the equipment for you.
What happens after the test?
If you test positive for sleep apnea, we will schedule a follow-up sleep study (polygraphy). You will get your polygraphy results during the next appointment with your ENT specialist, lung specialist or neurologist. If the pre-test results in a negative indication for OSAS, we will notify you by email and refer you back to your GP.
The Pre-Polygraphy is free of charge, so there is no reason not to get tested for sleep apnea. We will pay for this test and your deductible will not be affected in any way. For more information, see our Patient Information section on Pre-Polygraphy. If this still does not answer all your questions, please get in touch with us!
